Notably, Kurt Zouma found himself in trouble for a video uploaded on 6th February, 2022, by his younger brother Yoan. In that video, the West Ham United defender was seen kicking and slapping his pet cat, which caused widespread hatred towards him with calls of legal action.

The defender arrived at the Thames Magistrates’ Court on May 24 for the hearing. Both him and his brother, Yoan, pleaded guilty to their offences. In the viral video, Zouma is heard saying “I swear I’ll kill it (his cat).

He admitted two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal on February 6. Yoan admitted one count of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring his older brother to commit an offence.

The defender arrived at the Thames Magistrates’ Court on May 24 for the hearing. He pleaded guilty to two offences on court, while his younger brother, Yoan also pleaded guilty to one offence. In the viral video, Zouma is heard saying “I swear I’ll kill it (his cat).”

Besides Kurt, Yoan has also been punished for his involvement in the cruelty towards the Bengal cat. He has been handed 140 hours of community service. Besides this, Zouma has also been fined £250,000 by his team West Ham United and has also lost a sponsorship deal with sportswear manufacturing company Adidas. Meanwhile, Zouma’s two cats will be re-homed by the RSPCA.
