Premier League 2022/23: Nike Flight Premier League ball – The Premier League match ball for the 2022/23 campaign has been unveiled, drawing inspiration from the competition’s first ever season. Founded in 1992, the Premier League celebrates it’s 30th birthday this year. Thirty years on from the very first Premier League season, the colour scheme of the new Nike Flight reflects that of the original Mitre ball used from 1992-95. Nike have revealed the third edition of their Flight ball for the 2022-23 season
New ball has a similar colour scheme to the Premier League’s first ball in 1992
The latest edition of the Flight has the same technology as the last two seasons

Suffice to say, the shift has been a roaring success, with England’s top flight becoming the most-watched sports league in the world and widely considered the best altogether when it comes to the entertainment and drama to offer.

To celebrate three decades of Premier League football, Nike have provided a throwback match ball for the 2022/23 season – echoing the design of the very first ball used in the competition, made by Mitre.

Nike’s version carries the same gold graphics and red trim – in an ‘X’ design – as the 1992 version, with the addition of their Aerowsculpt technology in the form of grooves that should produce a truer flight.

The new season will mark Nike’s 23rd term as the official ball supplier for the Premier League, with Mitre fulfilling the role from 1992 to 2000.

The colour scheme of the new ball is likely to bring back nostalgic memories for fans who can remember the 1992-93 season, when Sir Alex Ferguson’s Man United beat Aston Villa to the title by one point.

The new 2022-23 Premier League Ball will be available to buy from July 15 and will be used for the first time when Arsenal meet Crystal Palace on the opening day.
