Lionel Messi survived a major security scare when a fan successfully ventured onto the pitch and grabbed the Inter Miami attacker in a MLS game. Messi’s personal bodyguard intervened in time to grab the attacker and diffuse the situation.
The incident happened during the second half of Inter Miami’s 3-1 win over Los Angeles FC on Sunday.

A male fan, dressed in a Barcelona jersey printed with Messi’s name, suddenly ran onto the pitch. The invader had a significant head start on Leo’s guard Chueko, meaning he reached his hero milliseconds his guard.
Despite the headstart, Chueko made sure the pitch invader’s interaction with Messi was as brief as possible. He caught him and dragged him to the touchline before passing him on to three stadium security personnel.
Who is Chueko?
Yassine Chueko is a former soldier and MMA fighter. He has been hired by Inter Miami to protect Messi at all times. He is also a former Navy Seal with experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Part of Chueko’s role is to stay as close as possible to the 36-year-old while he is on the field to protect him against pitch invaders.

Chueko effectively man-marks Messi during Miami games, albeit from the edge of the field.
Messi’s fine form continues
Lionel Messi was again at his best in the match against Los Angeles FC despite the pitch invader trouble. The Argentinian did not get on the score sheet, a rare instance since donning the pink shirt. However, that did not deter him from helping the team.
Messi set up two goals for Jordi Alba and Leonardo Campana to help maintain Inter Miami’s unbeaten run since his arrival.
Some of the biggest names in showbiz business lined up to witness the action from the stands as Messi lit up the pitch.
There was even a touch of royalty in attendance as Prince Harry came down from his mansion in Montecito to join in the fun. His wife Meghan however wasn’t there despite having her name on the VIP guest list.
