Al Nassr striker Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday was ruled out of the Riyadh Season Cup 2024 pre-season friendly match against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami. The news comes as a big jolt to the millions of football lovers who were waiting with baited breath for a final showdown between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ahead of the match which had football lovers across the world excited, Al Nassr coach Luis Castro said Ronaldo will not be fit in time to feature for the Saudi Pro League side against David Beckham’s team.
Talking to the media before the match, Castro delivered the damning update. “We will not see [Messi vs Ronaldo], Ronaldo is in the final part of his recovery to join the group. We hope that in the next few days you can start working with the team. He will be absent from the game,” he said.
In spite of Ronaldo’s absence from the match, football lovers can still look forward to several high-profile stars who will take the field. In addition to Lionel Messi, Luiz Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets are all supposed to feature in the match. From Al Nassr’s side, Alex Telles, Aymeric Laporte and Anderson Talisca will have the responsibility to entertain the fans. Ronaldo or not, the match is surely going to be an end-to-end affair.
