Indian Football Team‘s chances of going through to the FIFA World Cup qualifier third round were dealt with a massive blow as a wrongly scored goal by Yousef Ayemen levelled the scores in India vs Qatar. The goal left India captain and custodian Gurpreet Singh angered, however, with the absence of the goal-line technology, and VAR, the goal stood robbing India of their deserving result.
Wrongfully allowed goal ends India’s chances
In a match where a win is the only option for India, Lallianzuala Chhangte turned up as India scored their first goal from open play to boost their chances of making history. However, the entire scenario changed when Yousef Aymen cheekily scored in the equaliser in the third minute.
As clearly visible as it was, the ball had clearly rolled out for the goalkick when it was pulled back and fired into the net by Aymen. A furious Gurpreet Singh went to the referees for a review but the goal still stood despite it being clearly seen to have gone for a goal kick.
Qatar double lead in the 88th minute
However, another late 88-minute goal from Al-Rawi completely extinguished India’s chances of going through. While it has not been great in the tournament for the Blue Tiger, for the final game, it can be said that India has been robbed of their fair chance by ‘referees’ mistakes’ or fate as you may have liked it.
