The Netherlands Football Team staged a massive comeback to seal their spot in Euro Cup 2024 semi finals. The Dutch side scored twice in 6 minutes to turn the tide in their favour. It was Turkey who got a deserved first half lead. But a Stefan de Virj and an own goal from Mert Muldur saw the downfall of Turkey.
Massive comeback from Netherlands
Netherlands began the game on a positive note, ready to grab an early opener. But the Turkish side found their composure to begin their attack. After end to end football, it was Turkey who drew the first blood.
Young Arda Guler was once again the chief architect for the move. A wonderful cross into the Dutch box, saw Samet Akaydin scoring for the Turks in the 35th minute of the match.
At the start of the second half, Ronald Koeman brought in Wout Weghorst in place of Steven Bergwijn. The striker with his aerial threat immediately saw the gamble pay off. The break for Netherlands came in the 70th minute of the game. A short corner from Depay who got the ball back and places an inch-perfect ball into the box. Stefan de Virj unmarked slammed a fine header into the back of the net.
6 minutes later, the Dutch continued to build on their pressure. A fine low cross into the box, saw Cody Gakpo trying his best to tap the ball into the back of the net. But the ball struck the trailing foot of Mert Muldur to find the net. The Dutch side, fended off some late charge from Turkey to see off the match. Netherlands will meet England in the semi finals of Euro Cup.
