Mumbai City FC players Rostyn Griffiths and Jorge Pereyra Díaz on Monday were handed bans by All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) disciplinary committee following incidents that occurred during the Super Cup semifinal clash between the Islanders and Odisha FC. While Rostyn Griffiths was handed a suspension for five matches, Jorge Pereyra Díaz faces sanctions for four matches.

The disciplinary committee decided to suspend both players after carefully examining the events that transpired during the heated confrontation. The incidents’ nature has not been made public, but it seems likely that they were caused by behavior that violated the league’s code of conduct.
Following the disciplinary actions, Rostyn Griffiths was let go by Mumbai City FC. In place of Rostyn Griffiths, the team has already brought in defender Thaer Krouma.
However, following the suspension, Díaz will miss Mumbai City FC’s next four games against East Bengal, Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa.
