Mohun Bagan Super Giant Unveil New Logo Ahead of ISL 2023 -24

Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG), formerly known as ATK Mohun Bagan, has revealed their new logo ahead of the 2023-24 ISL season. On Monday, July 3, the Kolkata-based Indian Super League franchise unveiled their new logo in front of fans.

Mohun Bagan Super Giant (MBSG) formerly know as ATK Mohun Bagan have announced their new logo ahead of the next ISL 2023-24. On Monday, July 3, the Kolkata-based Indian Super League team presented their new logo with supporters via their official social media handle.

It is the oldest club in Asia and the oldest club in India, having been founded in 1889. They defeated Hyderabad FC 4-3 on penalties to win the ISL 2022–23 season. The club, which is owned by RPSG Mohun Bagan Pvt. Ltd., was changed to Mohun Bagan Super Giant earlier this year following three years of fan petitions to have the term “ATK” removed from the team’s name. After great hoopla, the club eventually unveiled its new logo to its supporters.

The new logo has been created in harmony with the logo Mohun Bagan had before the addition of ‘ATK’ to the name. The new goal logo has ‘Mohun Bagan’ written in the upper part. At the bottom is written ‘Super Giant’. The ‘Mohun Bagan’ and ‘Super Giant’ sections have Goenka’s RPSG Group logo on either side. And in the very center of the logo is a sailboat. It has ‘1889’ written on it quite stylishly.

Prior to the merger with ATK, sailing boats did not bear the inscription ‘1889’ on them. Instead, where the new logo reads ‘Super Giants’, it used to display ‘Founded 1889’. However, when Mohun Bagan merged with ATK, the inclusion of ‘1889’ was taken away from the logo. This act felt like a theft of the heartfelt connection and essence for the passionate supporters clad in green and maroon. Thankfully, Mohun Bagan fans have now been reunited with the cherished ‘1889’.

Recently, the Mariners made their first summer acquisition in preparation for the 2018 campaign when they signed two-year agreement with Albanian international forward Armando Sadiku. The center-forward scored eight goals in 31 appearances for FC Cartagena in La Liga 2, where he last competed in the 2022–23 season.

They also brought in Jason Cummings from the Central Coast Mariners in Australia. For his last team, the Australian striker made 49 appearances and scored 30 goals. Anirudh Thapa, an Indian international, had previously been acquired by them from Chennaiyin FC in one of the most well-known deals, reportedly for a sum of Rs 3 crore.
