Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan has been Axed from AFC Champions League 2 after failing to travel to Iran to face Tractor FC on 2nd October 2024. Mohun Bagan was slated to travel to Iran to play their second game of ACL Two but the Kolkata giants didn’t travel owing to the war situation in Iran.
Initially, Iran went to a 5-day mounting period after the death of their Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Previously, InsideSport confirmed that 35 players and the other staff of the team submitted a written letter to the club, not to travel owing to their safety.
And now as things stand, the AFC has clarified since Mohun Bagan failed to turn up, the team is set to have been understood to have withdrawn from the tournament. The AFC further added that all the matches played by the club in ACL Two will be considered null and void.
In such a scenario, the team would be awarded no points, and no goals when the final rankings of the group stage be judged.
