Mohamed Salah had renewed his contract less than a year ago in July, 2022 till 2025. The deal was the biggest in the club’s history. The 30-year-old Egyptian is having an unsatisfying season with the club as he has only scored 8 goals in 23 Premier League games for Liverpool this season.
However, he broke two records as he scored Liverpool’s second goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League. He broke Steven Gerrard’s 42-goals record for Liverpool in the Champions League. With the same goal, he broke the 44-goals record by Didier Drogba of scoring the most number of goals by an African player in the Champions League for all teams.
