Lionel Messi returns to Rosario
Hundreds of fans gathered outside Lionel Messi’s house in Roserio to thank the Argentina skipper for bringing home the FIFA World Cup. In the video which has surfaced online Messi’s wife, Antonella can be seen driving him home after two days of party to celebrate the World Cup triumph.
Before arriving back home, an open bus parade was being arranged for the World champions. However the parade had to be stopped midway due to crowd chaos as millions of fans gathered in the celebration. Due to security reasons, Lionel Messi and his colleagues boarded helicopters in what was dubbed an aerial parade.

Claudio Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, later issues a statement on Twitter (h/t Grainger)in which he said, “We were not allowed to arrive to greet all the people who were at the Obelisk, the same security forces that were escorting us did not allow us to move forward. A thousand apologies on behalf of all the champion players,”.
Lionel Messi to leave his footmark at Maracana
After etching his name in football’s history books, Lionel Messi is all set to leave his foot imprint at Brazil’s famous Maracana stadium. The Rio de Janeiro State Sports Superintendence who manages the stadium sent out an invitation to Messi yet again after doing it in 2021. The ‘Albiceleste’ won the Copa America title in 2021 beating Brazil in the final.
If Messi does accept the invitation then his footprints on the Maracana’s Walk of Fame would stand alongside Brazil greats such as Pele, Garrincha, Rivelino and Ronaldo. The other world famous footballers to have their footprints on the Maracana Walk of Fame were Chile’s Elias Figueroa, Serbia’s Dejan Petkovic, Portugal’s Eusebio, Uruguay’s Sebastian Abreu and Germany’s Franz Beckenbauer.
