Vitor Roque: With Athletico Paranaense, Barcelona have signed an agreement in principle to recruit highly-regarded Brazilian attacker Vitor Roque. Barcelona will give Roque a five-year contract and pay Athletico Paranaense about €40 million (£34 million/ $43 million) for his services. In order to eventually take the place of La Liga’s Golden Boot winner Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana are hoping that Roque can be a dependable backup for Lewandowski.
Lewandowski’s contract expires in 2026, and he will soon turn 35. But Roque’s arrival isn’t sealed just yet. Barcelona still has to clear salary in order to register the Brazilian, such are their financial woes. AS has reported that the Blaugrana need at least three players to leave in order to create room for Roque.

However, according to the most recent information from Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense have not yet reached a similar agreement over the acquisition of Roque. While the young sensation waits for the Blaugrana, negotiations between the two parties are reportedly ongoing.
Despite receiving interest from several other elite European teams, the center-forward is prepared to wait for Barcelona. One team rumoured to be interested in Roque is Arsenal. They do not, however, intend to move further with a formal offer for the 18-year-old because they find the €40 million asking price to be excessive.

Given his youth, talent, and tremendous potential, Roque is viewed as the perfect fit. The 18-year-old is off to a scorching start in the 2023 campaign in Brazil, having already netted ten goals and set up five more in 25 appearances across all competitions.
