Matheus Nunes: Manchester City are making moves in the last couple of days of the transfer window. They are looking to add another midfielder to their roster. They have Matheus Nunes of Wolves on their list and they are looking to rope him to the Etihad. According to reports, Matheus Nunes has refused to train with Wolves and is now being disciplined by the organization. Manchester City has already had two offers for the Portuguese midfielder rejected by the West Midlands club.

Wolves turned down a £52 million bid from City because he wasn’t part of the team that played Everton. For the balance of the year as Kevin de Bruyne recovers from his injury, Nunes, 25, is being looked at as a possible alternative.
Nunes no longer trains with Wolves, according to The Athletic. He may have “expressed his wishes” to join Manchester City, according to reports. Wolves reportedly won’t trade the midfielder, though, until the Citizens pay what he’s worth.
The Midlands club holding firm over their £60m ($76m) valuation. Nunes, who joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon for a then-club record £38 million last summer, still has four years left on his deal.
Gary O’Neil, the manager of Wolves, was optimistic that his team might retain Nunes following the victory over Everton. He said, ‘He’s an important player for us who has four or five years left on his contract. But we rejected a bid because we didn’t feel it met our valuation of what Matheus is worth to us.’
Nunes has apparently told Wolves that he wants to sign with Pep Guardiola’s team, which gives City some confidence that they will land their target. It’s now up to the Premier League champions to come up with an offer that Wolves can’t refuse.
Manchester City’s other targets
Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and Lucas Paqueta of West Ham were additional options that City explored. However, due to the Brazilian’s suspected violation of betting laws, a transfer for Paqueta is ruled out.

The Eagles want to stick onto Eze, therefore they will likely give him a new deal at Selhurst Park. Meanwhile, Manchester City have signed winger Jeremy Doku from Rennes in a £55.5m deal.
The Belgium international has signed a five-year deal with the Premier League champions. They have also roped down Bernardo Silva to a new contract that is valid until 2026. Reports say that there is a £50m release clause inserted in his new contract. But when it gets activated, is still unsure.
