Arsenal have tied down Martin Odegaard to a new contract which will keep him at Emirates for five years more. With the contract extension, he also became the highest-paid player at Arsenal with a weekly salary of £300,000. He was also appointed the new captain of Arsenal.
Martin Odegaard is keen to win trophies for Arsenal. He has been an integral part of Mikel Arteta’s squad. The Norwegian midfielder is among the best midfielder in the world and he showed great character in the last few months. Odegaard has netted three goals in six matches this season across all competitions. He also earned the nomination in Ballon d’Or.
Martin Odegaard insisted he wanted to win trophies with Arsenal. He said, “It was an easy decision for me. I felt connected and I felt at home here since the first day. And also I was moving around a lot and struggling to really settle down, so I felt like I needed a place to come and settle down and to kind of find a home.”
He added, “(There are) amazing people here at the club, the fans as well, everything around the club is just a good match for me. Of course, I am thinking about it (winning trophies). That is the big dream, the big goal, to win things with the club. That’s why I have signed here as well, because I believe we can achieve some great things.”

Odegaard was also the captain in Arsenal’s Champions League comeback game at Emirates after 2016-17. Arsenal beat PSV 4-0 to make a fluent start to UCL 2023-24. The talks for the contract extension were going on. Arsenal signed him in North London till the summer of 2028. He truly deserves to become the highest-paid player at the Gunners. His target would be winning the Premier League title.
Martin Odegaard will be seen in action for the Premier League encounter against London rivals, Tottenham. Both teams are going through a solid form and unbeaten so far. Arsenal skipper said, “I think when I first came here I knew straight away going into that game that this was something special.”
He added, “You can just feel it at the training ground, on social media. Even though I try not to focus too much on social media. you still see it and feel it from the fans.
