During his final Bundesliga game on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund legend Marco Reus purchased beer for about 80,000 Borussia Dortmund supporters inside the team Stadium. Reus, a Dortmund native who will leave the team at the end of the campaign, made his final appearance in front of Westfalenstadion supporters, helping the team to a 4-0 victory over Darmstadt with a goal and an assist.
The 34-year-old promised to pay for the fans’ beers in a handwritten note to vendors in the club’s renowned south stand. “Thank you for everything. The goodbye beers are on me. Your Marco,” he wrote.
“I thanked the fans for standing by my side all this time.
“The idea was in place for a long time,” Reus told Sky Sports, explaining the club’s marketing team “implemented it brilliantly.”

Reus came up through Dortmund’s junior ranks and won two German Cups with the team, but despite coming close to winning the Bundesliga, including last season when they were eliminated on the final day, they were not able to secure the title.
In what will likely be his final game, Reus, who participated in Dortmund’s Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich in 2013, has the opportunity to leave Wembley with the most coveted trophy in European football when Dortmund plays Real Madrid in the UCL final.
