Asensio joined his dream club Real Madrid from Mallorca as an 18-year-old in 2014. President, Florentino Pérez, then revealed that Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal played a crucial role in the transfer of Marco Asensio to the club. After signing for Madrid, he was loaned to Espanyol for the 2015-16 season. The 27-year-old made his Real Madrid debut in 2016 and has been a regular starter since then. Asensio featured in 285 games for Real Madrid scoring 61 goals in them.

The Spaniard won three La Liga, 3 Champions League, 1 Copa Del Ray, and 2 Super Copa while playing for Real Madrid. But as they say, all good things must come to an end similarly, Asensio’s time at Real Madrid is also nearing its end. After scoring 9 goals and 6 assists in 30 La Liga games this season, he will be leaving the club for the next chapter.

His contract, which he signed in 2017, is coming to an end. The 27-year-old will be a free agent this summer and French club Paris Saint Germain are close to signing him. Fans took to Twitter and reacted to the transfer.

A user wrote, “Good player. Looked for a moment like he would be a great player, but he’s not reached his full potential.”

A fan argued, “Asensio was clutch off the bench. They should have sold rodrygo”

Many fans are considering the move as Messi’s replacement, who will be leaving PSG this summer. On the other hand, Real Madrid will not have to work on their transfer as Asensio is 2nd player to leave the club after Karim Benzema. There might be more transfers upcoming, but already two big names leaving the club would have left the fans in shock.
