Marcus Rashford scored twice to help Manchester United defeat Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League on Sunday, keeping up his impressive goal-scoring streak. At Old Trafford, United can credit goalkeeper David De Gea for keeping the score from being two early on as Leicester dominated the attack. On the eighth minute, the Spanish goalkeeper stretched out to deny the opposing winger Harvey Barnes. Shortly after, he made an even greater save by diving to stop a Kelechi Iheanacho header.

On the quarter-hour mark, the home team seized the lead thanks to a goal from in-form attacker Marcus Rashford, who scored against Danny Ward for his sixth straight goal in all competitions. With a one-goal advantage at the halftime, United drew away from Leicester in the second half. First, Rashford increased his team’s lead on 56 minutes with a composed finish. After a VAR review, the goal that had initially been disallowed by the assistant referee’s offside flag was reinstated.
The third United goal was then confidently put in by winger Jadon Sancho after a wonderful one-two with Bruno Fernandes as he entered the Leicester box. With the victory, United is now only three points behind second-placed Manchester City. Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag’s team must now focus on the Carabao Cup, where they will play Newcastle United in the championship game on Sunday at Wembley.
