It seems that the Old Trafford faithful are looking to bring in the Portuguese on loan until the end of the season. Félix is reportedly unhappy at Atletico Madrid and is exploring other options as his relationship with Diego Simeone has also deteriorated. United is offering a £3.5m straight loan fee to the Colchoneros and the Red Devils will also take care of Félix’s full wages.

There is still a disparity between what Atletico wants and what United is offering. The Spanish club is looking for a fee of around £10.5m for a 6-month loan, so there is still a difference of £7 million. While Félix is a gun player on his day, Atletico’s demand for this amount for just 6 months seems like a lot. The forward does want to leave but it looks like Madrid is going to hold firm to their demands.
Even United would be hesitant to spend this huge amount for a player who they will have for just half a year. Erik ten Hag did mention that the club will not ‘burn through money’ to sign players in the transfer window. Man United needs some new legs in attack with Ronaldo leaving, Gakpo joining Liverpool, and Martial and Sancho’s injury issues. Rashford has been playing well but they need someone to partner with him upfront. Let’s see who bites the bullet first, United or Atletico.
