He has made just one appearance for United so far this season, starting the Champions League draw with Young Boys at Old Trafford in December. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the deal will be signed in the coming hours and the move will not include an option to buy for the Scottish champions.

Fabrizio Romano on his Social Media: “Manchester United talent Amad Diallo is now set to join Rangers, done deal and here we go. Manchester United and Rangers have reached an agreement on straight loan until the end of the current season, June 2022.”

“Amad’s now in Scotland in order to undergo his medical tests and then sign as new Rangers player. Manchester United trust him as key talent for the future after spending €23m plus important add ons on him – and wanted Diallo to go on loan until June as he needs to be a regular starter.”

“Deal to be announced in the coming hours with Man United busy on outgoings, after Martial to Sevilla and van de Beek in talks with Palace. Ralf Rangnick approved the move as Gio van Bronckhorst, Rangers manager. The player agent Imborgia will complete all paperworks with clubs soon, in the next 24/48 hours.”

Rangers have moved for Diallo as new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst seeks reinforcements before the transfer window’s deadline, having seen Ianis Hagi ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury in the Scottish Cup win against Stirling Albion.
