After Cristiano Ronaldo’s contentious exit, Burnley flop Wout Weghorst was brought in on loan as a temporary replacement, but United are still looking to add a forward in the summer transfer season. Ramos, a 21-year-old who replaced Ronaldo up front for Portugal during the World Cup, scored a magnificent hat-trick against Switzerland, solidifying his reputation as a potential replacement for United.

According to the Portuguese publication O Jogo, Benfica is apparently eager to increase Ramos’ salary in order to reward his recent performances. Ramos’ current contract would be renewed past 2025 and his release clause’s worth, which is now about £105 million, would rise. For the attacker, who has scored 17 goals in 26 games for Benfica this season in all competitions, United may have to compete with Premier League rivals Newcastle and French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The news that Manchester United can still acquire RB Salzburg star Benjamin Sesko has given their search for a new striker a boost. Sesko, 19, has a £20 million contract on his head to join RB Leipzig, Salzburg’s German sister team. In addition, now that it is known Leipzig might be bought out of the contract, United is far more likely to try to sign him in the summer rather than in January.

Although the 19-year-old is undoubtedly a player with a lot of potential, it is also evident that he may not be quite ready to go up to the Premier League this month. Sesko only managed to score five goals in 24 league games last year; but, in eight fewer games this year, he has already matched that total.

Therefore, it would seem that the Slovenian is a player with a bright future at Old Trafford; nevertheless, if Sesko wants to transfer to Manchester in the summer, he may need to exercise patience. The fact that Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur have also been connected to the striker suggests that the Red Devils are not the only team with an interest in the player.
