Manchester United refute signing contract offered to David De Gea

Manchester United did not sign David de Gea's new contract, and reportedly made him an even less favorable offer. Sources indicate that de Gea initially agreed to extend his contract with Manchester United, which included clauses leading to a significant reduction

David de Gea’s new contract was not signed by Manchester United, who also reportedly made the Spanish custodian an even worse offer. According to sources, David de Gea extended his contract with Manchester United before the team reneged on the pact. According to reports, the custodian signed a contract with clauses that dramatically reduced his existing weekly salary of £375,000, but United chose not to sign it.

Old Trafford’s veteran No. 1 was anticipated to have signed a contract by this point, putting an end to the protracted uncertainty surrounding his future. At the end of June, De Gea’s current contract will expire, leaving him a free agent.

Erik ten Hag is not sure about maintaining the former Atletico Madrid player as his No. 1 and would prefer to sign a new first-choice, despite the fact that the structure of a new agreement to lower De Gea’s pay was agreed upon some time ago.

Even with pay reduction requests taken into consideration, new terms for De Gea, the 2022–23 Premier League Golden Glove winner, were anticipated to be a formality. De Gea has voiced a desire to stay in Manchester.

De Gea, 32, is considering his alternatives as a result of them asking him to accept even less money in order to continue his 12-year affiliation with the club. The Spanish man is now reportedly garnering interest from Saudi Arabia, which might cause his head to be turned during ongoing negotiations.

As speculation grows as to how long De Gea will remain in goal, United is being connected to a number of other goalkeeping alternatives. Interest is reportedly growing in Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, with a €50 million (£43 million/$55 million) deal reportedly in the works.

Diogo Costa of Porto, David Raya of Brentford, and highly regarded youngster Bart Verbruggen of Anderlecht have all been evaluated by United, who have also spoken to possible No 2s in the event that De Gea stays with the team.
