Man United identify Bayern Munich star as Harry Maguire replacement

Manchester United has found a replacement for Harry Maguire in Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard ahead of the Premier League season.

Manchester United are said to be in negotiations with Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard. He’s been mentioned as a possible replacement for Harry Maguire. Maguire’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end after United agreed to a £30 million deal with West Ham on Wednesday.

United’s centre back Maguire is reportedly on his way to West Ham after the two teams signed an agreement in principle. He will transfer to the London Stadium for £30 million ($38.2 million).

Bayern Munich’s right-back Pavard is rumoured to want to leave the Bundesliga club. He has no plans to renew his contract, which expires in 2024. Rumour has it that ‘concrete’ talks between the Red Devils and the 27-year-old, who can also play at centre-back, are taking place. Manager Erik ten Hag is also interested in hiring him.

United are apparently eager to get Maguire off their books and reclaim part of the £80 million ($101.9 million) they paid for him. It was a record-breaking cost for a defender. As a replacement, French World Cup winner Pavard would provide the Red Devils with a flexible defensive alternative.

With only one year remaining on his contract, United may be able to get Pavard’s services at a discount. If Bayern buy Harry Kane this summer, the German giants may demand a higher cost for the Frenchman.

On Monday, August 14, United will kick off their Premier League campaign against Wolves. However, it is unclear whether Pavard will join the club before then or whether Maguire’s departure will be announced.
