Manchester United has been flooded by controversy since the start of the season. Whether it is Jadon Sancho or Antony, Erik Ten Hag’s challenge remained maintaining the focus of the team amid all the disputes. Ahead of their game against Brighton, the Man United boss has spoken out on the controversial topics of Sancho and Antony.
On Jadon Sancho
Jadon Sancho’s transfer enjoyed a lot of support from the Man United faithful but the English winger has so far failed to impress. He has been in and out of the team, training separately for 3 months. The individual training has not helped much, with Sancho being dropped from the game against Arsenal due to ‘training-related performance’.
The former Dortmund footballer dismissed Ten Hag’s claims on social media. He did delete his statement later, but the damage had been done.

Ten Hag was asked about the winger before Man United’s match to Brighton. He said, ““My decision is based on Jadon Sancho is only based on principles. That’s not about me. This is in favour of the team, my decisions are always based on that. My answer on Sancho after Arsenal game? I am always honest.”
When prodded further about the chances of Sancho playing for the club again, Ten Hag said, “With fans it’s the talk, with you it’s the talk, but with the players, it is not the talk. They want to perform”.
“For players who didn’t have so much opportunities, it’s chance to come into the team”, Ten Hag added.
On Antony
Antony was reunited with Ten Hag at Manchester United. The duo knows each other well from working together in Ajax.
Antony was recently charged with physical abuse by his ex-girlfriends and consequently was separated from the team.
Ten Hag was also asked about the Brazilian winger’s return to the team in the pre-match press conference. He said, “I have no idea. Of course he is disappointed, but he is okay”.
It remains to be seen how Ten Hag decides to deal with the absence of two wingers at once.
