Manchester United: Man United have already brought on Mason Mount from Chelsea as the first signing of this transfer window. However, they have spent £60 million on the transfer. They are still pursuing Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. However, both players cost a lot and as per reports, coach Erik Ten Hag did not have enough left on the budget. Apparently, the Glazers have reportedly increased the amount. Ahead of a tough upcoming season, this will help the coach strengthen the team to a great extent.

Manchester United are still going through the takeover process. It has been nearly 8 months since the unpopular owners, the Glazers put the club up for sale. However, the takeover process is far from reaching its conclusion. In the midst of this, the Glazers reportedly gave coach Erik Ten Hag a limited budget of £120 million to do business in this transfer window. However, they have already spent half of that amount to bring in Mason Mount from Chelsea. Reportedly, Glazers have now increased the budget amount to £170 million.
They are still pursuing the goalkeeper Andre Onana from Internazionale and the forward Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. Man United’s first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea left a few days ago after spending 12 years at the club. They currently have Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton as the replacement. However, they are still pursuing the 27-year-old talented Andre Onana. He became the first-choice goalkeeper for Internazionale within one season. The Red Devils have reached very advanced stages of transfer talks for Onana. The deal could soon be done.
Man United have offered their latest bid worth a little more than £40 million. However, Inter have put an asking price of £50 million for Onana. Even if Inter agreed on the Red Devils’ bid, then they would have spent over £100 million. They wouldn’t have been left with enough money for their other target, Rasmus Hojlund. Even though Marcus Rashford had a marvelous season, Man United are preparing for the Champions League and a hectic schedule in the latter part of the season.

They consider Hojlund to be the perfect choice for that. However, Atalanta are asking for at least £60 million for the forward. Man United are ready for a player-plus-cash deal, but even so, they will have to spend a lot of cash. In this situation, coach Ten Hag needed more money to bring all of his transfer targets. Glazers were reluctant considering the club is up for sale. However, they know that if Man United can’t compete on big stages, the club’s value will drop.
Previously when Ten Hag was asked about the transfer budget in May, he said, “No, I don’t have influence on that. The only thing I know is that Man United is one of the biggest clubs in the world, one of the biggest two or three from a fanbase perspective. The club has to compete… but in football you need funds to construct squads because the level of your players decides if you are successful or not. Everyone knows you need funds to construct a squad and high-level players cost a lot of money.”
