Premier League giants Manchester City stage a late comeback to keep themselves alive in the UEFA Champions League. The Manchester Blues were just 1 step away from not making it to the next round but a 3-1 win over Club Brugge in a must-win game ensured their way into the next round of qualifiers.
The Cityzens will be facing their next opponent in a two-legged playoff knockout round. Coming to the game, it was the Belgian side that stunned the Etihad when they took the lead. Raphael Onyedika grabbed a goal moments before the first half to stun the home crowd.
But the Manchester Blues made a strong comeback. Matheo Kovacic and Savino both scored goals which were assisted by John Stone. Joel Ordonez’s own goal was enough for Pep Guardiola’s men to make it to the next stage.
Manchester City also ensured a good home record in the UEFA Champions League. In their last 10 home games, they have won 9 of those while the other remains as a draw. The Etihad continues to remain a fortress for the side in the European competition.
City also registered a stunning record. They joined the likes of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and PSG in becoming the fourth team to reach to cross the group stage of the UCL in their last 12 seasons consecutively.
