Man United’s persuit for Mason Mount comes to halt, Chelsea ask staggering price for academy product

The transfer of Mason Mount to Manchester United has encountered a setback as Chelsea demands a significant fee of 70 million pounds for the talented Premier League midfielder's move.

Although there is still a difference in price, Manchester United is anticipated to submit a formal offer for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount soon. The two teams are still in talks over the 24-year-old, whose contract is set to end in June 2024. While the Premier League team is interested in Mason Mount, Chelsea will expect £70m to part ways with him this summer.

This summer, Mount will begin the final year of his Chelsea contract; he has so far refrained from signing a renewal. However, the English international is someone that the new manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with.

If Mount does not sign an extension, Chelsea officials have made it known to him that they are willing to trade him this summer. The Blues, however, are not willing to be coerced into reducing their expectations.

Chelsea has stated they would not sell the 24-year-old if their asking price of £70 million is not fulfilled, and a valuation of that amount has been placed on Mount’s head. That could not be good news for Man United, who are hoping to sign Mount this summer.

Given his contract’s expiration and their desire to invest in other parts of the team, they are now only ready to offer £50m for his services. Pochettino wants to keep Mount for the upcoming season, but he must wait anxiously to find out if his desire will be granted.

Chelsea is prepared to sit down once again in an effort to come to a deal and has not given up on trying to extend Mount’s contract. However, until this moment, no more progress has been achieved. United will keep a close eye on any changes. If they can not persuade Mount to sign a contract, they think Chelsea will drop their asking price as the summer goes on.

Even if Mount stays at the club, Chelsea still has a top priority of strengthening in the middle of the pitch. Officials from the Blues have not completely ruled out going after both Declan Rice of West Ham and Moises Caicedo of Brighton. In an assault, there are also reasons for optimism. A shortlist that also includes Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and Victor Osimhen of Napoli now includes Lautaro Martinez of Inter.
