Premier League’s new season will start from next weekend and all big clubs are looking to fill their vacant spots before the deadline day. Riyad Mahrez has recently left the club and moved to the Saudi club, Al Ahli for £30m. Brighton winger could be the ideal replacement for the Algerian forward. Pep Guardiola is keen to get him before the season opener of the Premier League.

As per the fresh report of The Sun, Pep Guardiola will move for Kaoru Mitoma next after finally landing £77 million Josko Gvardiol. The 21-year-old defender was Man City’s second signing after Mateo Kovacic who moved from Chelsea.

Now, Man City pushes for Japanese winger Mitoma who had a great season with the Seagulls in 2022/23. Brighton secured the maiden ticket to European competition. The 26-year-old can help Man City to dominate the attack since the departure of Mahrez. The club is planning to offer him a 5-year contract.

Mitoma’s contract at Brighton will expire in two years. However, the club is not interested to sell him. Brighton’s boss also indicated recently that the regular departure of top players is making his squad weaker. Brighton previously rejected offers from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Ahead of Man City’s pre-season encounter against Yokohama F Marinos, Pep Guardiola was asked about the quality of Asian football. He added the name of Brighton winger and said, “Well I would say the impact of [Kaoru] Mitoma on the Premier League has been incredible,”

He also added on Japanese forward. “He is in the right place with the right manager and his last season was extraordinary. And look at what Japan have done in the World Cup in a tough, tough group.”

Mitoma was part of Japan’s squad and did really well in last year’s FIFA World Cup. Japan were placed with two former Champions Germany and Spain but the Asian giants qualified for the knockout round. Brighton will avoid losing him as they already sold Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool this summer in a £35m deal. Chelsea are also linked with one more player, Moises Caicedo. Brighton already rejected four offers from the Blues.
