Manchester City and Chelsea have finally struck a deal on the transfer of Mateo Kovacic. Mateo Kovacic is allegedly likely to sign a £30 million deal with the Premier League champions.
Kovacic will undergo a physical at the Etihad Stadium later this week, and City has agreed to pay Chelsea £25 million ($32 million) upfront for him as well as a further £5 million in add-ons. The last £5 million payment will not be dependent on Kovacic’s contributions to the team.

It will not go into effect until City reach their trophy goals. Guardiola, a longtime fan of the former Real Madrid great, allegedly named Kovacic as his top summer target in an effort to further strengthen his depth in the middle of the park.
Kovacic has been open about his ambition to work behind the scenes for the Treble champions, and at the beginning of the month, he reached a personal agreement with City. In 2019, the Croatian moved to Chelsea from Real Madrid.
Since then, he has helped the team win four championships, including the Champions League. In 221 appearances with the Blues, Kovacic amassed six goals and 15 assists, but underperformed last year as they finished bottom in the Premier League, a Premier League record.

As of Wednesday morning, N’Golo Kante had been officially announced as moving to Saudi Pro League winners Al Ittihad, making him the second senior midfielder to depart Chelsea this summer. Additionally anticipated to depart Chelsea is Kai Havertz, who has interest from Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Mason Mount, who like Kovacic is nearing the final year of his contract in west London, might also leave the Blues. Man United are intrigued, although their initial offer of £40 million was rejected.
