Liverpool TRIGGER Dominik Szoboszlai’s £60m release clause to SECURE transfer

Liverpool have secured the deal of Dominik Szoboszlai, 22-year-old Hungarian captain from RB Leipzig after triggering his £60 million release clause.

Liverpool transfer: Liverpool have been successful in landing the transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai. The RB Leipzig player was a prime target for both Liverpool and Newcastle United for quite some time now. However, they backed away and Liverpool saw positive signs following a meeting with Szoboszlai’s agents earlier this week. The Reds negotiated with Leipzig regarding the transfer fee before everything was finalised. The two clubs have a good working relationship as Fabio Carvalho has now also joined Leipzig from Liverpool on loan.

Liverpool and Newcastle United were trying to bring in Dominik Szoboszlai after his incredible season at Leipzig. However, there seemed to be some complications for the Reds to acquire the players. That changed after a meeting that was held earlier this week between Liverpool and Szoboszlai’s agents. Further talks regarding the matter were held again on Friday. Apparently, the Reds received positive response and they had the highest chance of getting the player. Newcastle United also moved away from the transfer race prior to the meetings.

As per reports, Szoboszlai has a release clause of around £60 million which is about to expire on Friday. However, there are controversies as to the date when it might expire. Even so, Liverpool tried to negotiate a lower fee for the 22-year-old Hungarian captain. Reportedly, upon reluctance, Liverpool paid the transfer fee. The two clubs have a good working relationship, especially after their dealings in this transfer window. The Reds have already let their 20-year-old forward Fabio Carvalho join RB Leipzig on a one-year loan deal.

Hence, Liverpool have worked out a deal with RB Leipzig for Szoboszlai. As per the transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Szoboszlai already agreed personal terms with the Reds. He only needs to pass medical tests to be announced as Liverpool’s new signing. He would be a great addition to the Reds team as Jurgen Klopp is trying to rebuild from last year’s squad. Liverpool ended the 2022-23 season in 5th position in the Premier League table. Hence, they will not be playing the Champions League coming season.

Yet, that is not the worst they had been last season. There was a chance in the middle of the season that they would not play in any European competitions. However, they pulled through near the end of the season to finish qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. Klopp has been on a mission to rebuild his team to come back stronger in the 2023-24 season. Liverpool have already secured the signature of the World Cup winner Argentine Alexis Mac Allister.

They were also looking to bring in Mason Mount from Chelsea. However, Mount is close to joining Manchester United. Additionally, they are also considering Romeo Lavia from Southampton Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice. However, Szoboszlai was still a priority target on their list. Szoboszlai was an important part of the Leipzig team that won the DFB Pokal for the second year in a row. However, the attacking midfielder was keen on a move to England as well and will now be happy to now have seen the transfer through.
