Konate misses, Endo to start as Liverpool meet Newcastle in away encounter

Liverpool Team News: The Reds will make trip to St James Park for a crucial away game against Magpies. What will be the lineups for Liverpool on Sunday?

Liverpool Team News: Following a 3-1 win at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool wait for their another tough assignment as Newcastle hosts them in a weekend Premier League game. The Reds have been decent so far with 4 points in two games. They beat Bournemouth and played a 1-1 draw with Chelsea. It’s the second away game for Liverpool this month against a top-ranked side. The Reds have an impressive record against the Magpies and the away record also gives them a big boost.

The Reds have been unbeaten against Newcastle since 2015 and it was also their last away defeat against weekend’s hosts. Despite a disappointing season in 2022/23, Liverpool beat Newcastle twice with an aggregate success of 4-1, including the 2-0 win at St James Park. They have extended their winning run to 13 matches in the Premier League since the defeat to Man City in April. Ideally, the winning track is back for Klopp who is chasing the UCL qualification this season.

Liverpool Team News

Jurgen Klopp benched new signing Wataru Endo and somehow, their midfield faced issues against Bournemouth. Liverpool was going toward a defensive approach in midfield. Meanwhile, they found the momentum back with Luis Diaz’s acrobatic strike. Alisson fought hard to save the strikes from Bournemouth last week. The 3-1 margin was a great sign for the Reds with some rare errors.

There is good news for Liverpool as Mac Allister is ready to take the place in midfield. The Argentine was handed a red card in the second half of the game against Bournemouth. The Reds made an appeal and the decision has been overturned now. Wataru Endo could come in for his first Premier League start who was not part of the XI last week.

Liverpool will also deal with some injury concerns as Curtis Jones and Thiago Alcantara both are sidelined due to ankle and hip injuries. Jurgen Klopp is also not sure about Ibrahima Konate. If Konate didn’t make it to the XI then Joel Matip and Joe Gomez might be recalled for this away trip. The Reds would not risk Konate for this game.

On the other side, Trent Alexander-Arnold gets match fitness and he will take the position in defence despite an injury scare last week. Liverpool are still in the market for a midfielder. After losing the battle for Caicedo and Lavia from Chelsea, they are putting all their efforts into getting one more player. Meanwhile, Kloop is also optimistic that Mo Salah will stay at Liverpool amid transfer rumours from Saudi club.

Liverpool XI

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Endo, Szoboszlai; Salah, Jota, Diaz
