The French pair are on the radar of many teams after doing well in their respective leagues. The 22-year-old Kone, who plays for Borussia Mönchengladbach, made 30 appearances in Bundesliga this season and was their main man in the midfield. Khéphren Thuram also played a similar role in Ligue 1 for Nice, appearing in 35 games this season.
Both players have a contract till 2025 with their respective clubs. Moreover, Liverpool might have to negotiate to sign the pair as their clubs might not let them go so easily with multiple other options from clubs. Teams like Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and PSG are also interested in signing the French duo and have scouted them extensively. However, Liverpool needs them more than any other club in their midfield.
Liverpool’s midfield was one of the main reasons, the club failed o secure a top 4 position in the Premier League. Several players were injured for most of the season, and the signings didn’t work. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho couldn’t do much without help from other players as Thiago and Arthur Melo were on the sidelines throughout the season.
However, they seem to enter the transfer market aggressively by making multiple signings. The Merseyside club is close to signing World Cup winner, Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. They are also keeping an eye on Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, Wolves’ Ruben Neves, and Leicester’s Youri Tielemans.
