LIVERPOOL construction worker Fired after filming BTS videos of Anfield

Construction worker asked to leave Anfield site after he was seen filming behind the scenes video of the Anfield construction work

Liverpool: After leaking a behind-the-scenes video of the ongoing work at Liverpool’s Anfield Road stand, a construction worker who claimed to have been fired for posting films online was asked to leave the job today.

Kev Moore is one of the employees tasked with completing the 61,000 capacity expansion of the storied site, which began in 2021. On June 8, Liverpool published a video of the off-season work in which four substantial cranes were seen removing the 282-tonne roof of the stadium.

7,000 additional seats will be added to Liverpool’s home stadium as a result of the £80 million project, but the club is pressed for time to ensure that Klopp’s team can compete there at the start of next season. To give them more time to complete the final touches before the stand is unveiled at the start of the 2023–24 season, the team has asked to have their season opener played away from home.

After the video went viral on social media on Wednesday, Moore posted a video on his website claiming to have been fired. The tweet said, ‘Sacked by (Liverpool) for a video I didn’t post. No idea how it got so big so quick.’

Liverpool deny firing Moore

Liverpool stated when contacted for comment that neither they nor his employer, Buckingham Group Contracting, fired Moore. However, Buckingham Group Contracting has a staff guideline that specifies that phones are only permitted on site for work-related activities. Moore will have violated this regulation by filming his films.

According to a source close to the business, Moore was not fired but rather sent home for the remainder of the day. The construction worker demonstrates his view from the top tier in Moore’s first film while making a statement about how steep the stairs leading up to the stand are.

‘Look at the view of the pitch,’ Moore adds. ‘You’re in the f nosebleeds here. Like Newcastle away.’ After that, he pans around the terraces to show how “it’s taking shape” while zooming in on a tour that is happening on the ground.

The video was initially removed, but after Moore was fired on Wednesday, he re-posted it on his Twitter account.

Moore’s second video

In a second video, posted in the wake of being asked to leave for the day, Moore said, ‘Apparently, Liverpool have been in contact with the builder about the video’. Moore breaks off, warning passing colleagues ‘not to get in the video or you’ll get sacked’.

As he walks through the site, saying goodbye to colleagues, he says, ‘I asked about the tonne of bricks that fell from the sixth lift of the scaffold – but it’s me making videos, sitting on my break (that’s the problem)’. Moore appeared to be in a good mood as he tells his colleagues that he is making ‘his last video’. The news of him saying that is met with a lot of laughter too.
