Liverpool vs PGMOL: Premier League side, Liverpool has now made their complaints known to PGMOL, the body that oversees Premier League refereeing. The Merseyside club isn’t happy with the two decisions which were not given in their favor against Aston Villa. As a result of the decisions, Liverpool dropped two crucial points in their race to the Champions League, leaving them behind Manchester United. United are now three points clear, which means they need only 1 from the remaining six points to keep Liverpool out of the Champions League next season. The points were important for Liverpool and so, the club has asked for explanations for the two decisions. The first one was an equalizer by Cody Gakpo which was ruled out by the referee claiming it came from Van Dijk, who was in an offside position. Luis Diaz attempted to head back across the goal, but the ball rebounded to him off Villa center-back Ezri Konsa. As per the rules, the goal should have stood as the defender deliberately played the ball.

Referee, John Brooks denied the goal after taking help from VAR, who suggested, Konsa’s contact on the ball to send it to Van Dijk was accidental.

The second one was where Villa defender Tyrone Mings received only a yellow card after he made a chest-high challenge on Gakpo. The challenge was so nasty that, it left the Liverpool player in cuts and his shirt torn. On some days, players have been sent off for similar challenges. However, Mings escaped a red card even after an intervention from VAR.

The decisions must have left Liverpool fans devastated as the full 3 points would have kept them in the race to UCL for next season. Now, the Jurgen Klopp side might be seen in the Europa League as they are most likely to finish on 5th. Manchester United have two games remaining and they only need 1 point. They’ll be up against Chelsea and then Fulham.

Liverpool have only 1 game remaining, which they’ll play against relegated side Southampton.
