After losing to Crystal Palace on Saturday, the woes for Manchester United keep coming. Man United are now fearing defender Lisandro Martinez’s injury is potentially more serious than it seemed at first. The club is plagued with issues and controversies at the moment. The issues range from the ongoing probe on Antony, absence of Jadon Sancho from first team, and uncertainty regarding the club’s sale.
In one more bad news for Man United fans, Martinez Martinez will probably be out for longer than expected. The Argentine underwent a foot surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal previously. The procedure had kept him out of football for almost two months last season. He started this season well, but his injury aggravated in Man United’s 3-1 loss to Arsenal earlier in the season.

Erik Ten talked about a ‘problem’ of Lizandro Martinez in the pre-match press conference before the Crystal Palace game.
“We did a proper diagnosis – in Argentina as well – but now it came out that there was a problem and that’s very sad for him and the team, because he was not 100 per cent fit.
“I think it was a big difference: the Licha Martinez in the last games and the Licha Martinez we have seen in the first season here at Manchester United,” Ten Hag had said.
Although the Man United coach did not provide a timeline on Martinez’ return, The Telegraph has learnt that the defender will be out for over two months. The same outlet reports that the club are also considering the option of another surgery for the Argentine.
Lisandro Martinez is another addition to the long line of United players with injuries including regular left-back Luke Shaw and back-up Reguilon.
With Man United starting the EPL season on a forgettable note, Ten Hag will surely look forward to the January window for reinforcements if the injury woes persist.
