Who is Lionel Messi’s new bodyguard? Check out former MMA star and US soldier

Lionel Messi's new bodyguard Yassine Chueko is skilled in martial arts, taekwondo, and boxing.

Lionel Messi has been in the headlines for a month straight since he joined Inter Miami. He took the bottom-dwelling team of the league and won the first trophy in the club’s history in a month. He also played against Cincinnati, the league-toppers in the US Open semi-finals, and defeated them. However, in his recent few Inter Miami matches, it’s his bodyguard, Yassine Chueko, who has grabbed the limelight. Chueko was hired by co-owner David Beckham and shadows Messi like a shadow which has caught everyone’s attention.

Lionel Messi is a sensation all around the world. Security was a matter of great concern for his arrival in the United States. Inter Miami was only established in 2018 and they don’t have all state-of-the-art facilities. Even their own player once raised security concerns. Additionally, considering Messi’s fame, it was sure that every match would see a full house and it came true later on. However, Miami owners assured that the security measures will be brought to a maximum.

Prior to his arrival in the United States, replying to everyone’s security-related concerns, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas said, “Security will obviously be enhanced. Players will be bussed in, going through a tunnel. All of those security protocols are already prepared both for here and away. And it’s not only for our games. It’s going to be an everyday occurrence and something we witnessed and I thought handled very well when [Messi] was here with Argentina before the World Cup.”

It seems that Miami remained true to their words. They prioritised Messi’s security by hiring him a bodyguard that would shadow him at all times. Apparently, the bodyguard was hired by Miami’s co-owner David Beckham following a security breach a few weeks ago. The bodyguard, Yassine Chueko is a former US soldier and MMA fighter. He is a former Navy Seal who served in Afghanistan and Iraq. He also trained in martial arts, boxing, and taekwondo, and fought several MMA fights.

Fans spotted the bodyguard shadowing Messi at all times and captured his movements in videos. In the videos, Chueko was seen waiting by the team bus. Other players walked away, but when Messi got off the bus, Chueko started following him. In another video, he was seen walking on the sidelines mirroring Messi’s movement up and down the field. He even ran near the goalposts strolling down the touchline when Messi was celebrating with his teammates. It seems the ripped bodyguard takes his job quite seriously and never leaves his side.

Lionel Messi made his debut for Inter Miami only a month ago. Since then, he has appeared in seven Leagues Cup matches and one US Open Cup match. Miami are dwelling at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference table. Messi and his former Barcelona teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are yet to make their MLS debut. However, they have already won the Leagues Cup trophy. They also took this team to the US Open Cup final. Fans are naturally going crazy over such success, so currently, Messi’s security is of utmost importance.
