On the one hand, the team is facing legal issues of the referee scandal and the financial situation continues to stress them, some ray of hope also came on the Cam Nou. After spending his childhood days at the La Masia Academy, Jordi Alba returned to Barcelona from Valencia in 2012. Since then, he has become an integral part of the team helping win them multiple trophies. His linking with Lionel Messi has provided a number of goals to Barcelona and trouble for opponents. Speaking about Messi’s possible return, Alba said, “It is Leo’s decision. Honestly, we haven’t talked about this topic, but it’s clear that in the end, seeing Messi with another shirt other than Barca’s is always weird.”

Alba also mentioned that it would be perfect for him, if Messi returns, “In the end, if he wants to and the club wants to, it’s perfect for me. He has been the player with whom I have understood the best on the pitch.”

Messi had to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2021 due to the financial crisis the club has been going through. Barcelona failed to renew Messi’s contract, which left him searching for a new club and the Argentinian joined PSG.

Barcelona has been going through the same problem again, and this time it seems like Gavi might be the one to suffer. The youngster’s new contract is not yet registered and he is forced to play with his old jersey number. Barcelona is also facing charges of sporting corruption. Speaking about the case, Alba said, “It’s not pleasant to see all this news and so much noise. It’s difficult to isolate and disconnect.”

He continued, “Besides, players like me, who have been Barca fans since we were little kids, it’s true that it’s not pleasant, but we have to compete, keep scoring points, isolating ourselves from everything and winning games, whatever the situation may be.”

The 34-year-old has played 19 games for Barcelona in La Liga this season and is still proving his worth at the club.
