Former Man United star Jesse Lingard gets an offer from the Saudi Pro League. As per reports, Al-Ettifaq are ready to offer him a full-time contract in 2024. Saudi clubs have already invested a lot in European clubs this summer and they set their target for 2024 now. Lingard is the latest name who can be on the radar of Al-Ettifaq after the end of this season.
Ettifaq head coach Steven Gerrard recently had a training stint with his club. The former Premier League star wants his club to sign the Englishman. Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson recently moved to the Saudi club. Steven Gerrard played a big role in signing Liverpool’s captain in the summer. He would try to get one more Premier League star in 2024.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Ettifaq can only offer Lingard a pre-contract. Saudi Pro League giants have filled all of their spots on the roster. Al-Ettifaq can only officially sign the former Man United midfielder in the winter transfer window in 2024.
Another expert, Ben Jacobs denied this report and claimed that the Saudi Pro League would not sign the talented midfielder due to the player’s high wage demands. It’s pretty tough for the club to make space for Lingard as they cannot have two players when the winter window opens.
We all have seen the influence of Saudi clubs in the European market and the previous summer window was a prime example. Al-Ettifaq is one of the top clubs in Saudi but they have to face an issue to get Lingard on board. If they fail to sign him in winter, they can go for him at the end of the season.
