Leo Messi TRANSFER: Leo Messi’s contract with PSG expires at the end of this season and he will not be extending his time at the French club. There is a great chance that Lionel Messi will be coming back to Barcelona next season. However, for that to happen Barcelona will have to sort their financial problem and get La Liga’s permission which is yet to happen. Hence, there have been many doubts, and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has opened up about them. Follow La Liga LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Lionel Messi will be leaving PSG once the season ends. He has received interest from Barcelona, David Beckham’s co-owned Inter Miami, and the Saudi club Al-Hilal. Both Inter Miami and Al-Hilal will be offering Messi a huge pay rise. In comparison, if Messi decides to move back to Barcelona, he will have to take a pay cut. On top of that, Barcelona will also have to convince La Liga that even if they bring back Messi, they will still be obeying the Financial Fair Play rules.

Talking about Lionel Messi’s future, his father and agent Jorge Messi recently said that any decision will be taken only after the season ends. There also have been no reports that Barcelona presented Messi with a solid offer yet. On the contrary, Al-Hilal have reportedly offered Messi a huge record-breaking €500 million deal. However, having spent most of his career at Barcelona, Messi might choose to go back to Spain. Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio has spoken exclusively to InsideSport about where Messi’s future might lead him.

Di Marzio said, “At this moment, the only certain thing is that Messi will not renew his contract with PSG. He’s currently only talking to Barcelona. I’d like to see him back in Barcelona… They’ll have to find the right solution in an economical sense. I know that Messi doesn’t think about money at this point, so he’ll accept a symbolic fee just to come back. The only thing they need to do is find the right solution with the league and within Financial Fair Play to let him come back.”

He added, “Otherwise, he will think about Al Hilal’s and Miami’s offer because they’ve wanted him for a long time. I think he’ll do everything possible to return to Barcelona. It’s only if that’s impossible that he’ll really consider the other solutions.” La Liga have already said that Barcelona have to cut down over €200 million from their wage bill. President Joan Laporta previously said that Barcelona still have time and they will do everything to convince La Liga. It certainly seems that they have started working on their plans.

It seems that Barcelona planned on selling some of their players to help with the financial situation. As a result, they would also be able to bring Lionel Messi back to the club as well. Several clubs have already started taking interest in many of their players, like Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, Raphinha, and many more. Other than these two players, Barcelona could also sell Samuel Umtiti, Ferran Torres, Clement Lenglet, and more. In the meantime, veterans Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have decided to leave the club at the end of the season.

On which players Barcelona could sell this transfer window to bring back Messi and stabilize their financial situation, Di Marzio said, “It depends on Xavi’s ideas about where he thinks he should put Messi in his starting XI and which players want to leave… It depends on what Barcelona want to do with their forward players or if they want to sell one of their names like Franck Kessié or Frenkie de Jong, but the club would like to keep these players, but they are trying to find a solution internally to get Messi back.”
