Messi landed in Barcelona with his family and had 15 suitcases with him. Fans were quick to speculate that the 7x Ballon D’or winner has arrived with the intention to stay for some time. PSG doesn’t play any game till next Sunday and as a result, he might be spending the week in Barcelona. This also strengthens the comeback rumors of Messi to Camp Nou.
President Joan Laporta is confident about signing the 35-year-old in the summer transfer after having chat with Messi’s father and agent Jorge. However, in order to do so, Barcelona will have to raise around £178m. The Spanish club signed some big names like Robert Lewandowski, Jules Koundé, Andreas Christensen, and Raphinha last summer, tightening their finances. So in order to sign some new players, Barcelona will have to make some space financially first.
Interestingly, despite raising £178m, Barcelona will only be able to offer 4 times less than what he was earning earlier. Now, it totally depends on the World Cup winner, and what he decides.
🗣️ Gerard Romero: “This is not a regular visit for Messi in Barcelona as Pepe Costa (Messi's right-hand man) was carrying 15 suitcases.”

The contract situation with PSG hasn’t come to any conclusion. PSG are willing to load off Messi and focus more on the upcoming players rather than sticking to big names. In recent times, PSG have signed more young players and are focusing on a stable project. Messi’s arrival hasn’t helped to achieve the Champions League trophy, and it seems like he will be departing without winning one at the club.
