Manchester United are now four points clear of fifth-placed West Ham after they overcome Leeds in a fiery goal-fest at Elland Road. Cristiano Ronaldo had a golden chance to open the scoring when he was picked out in the box by Paul Pogba, but Leeds goalkeeper Ilan Meslier denied him with a brilliant save from close range.
Bruno Fernandes then forced Meslier into another decent stop after more good work from Pogba, before Harry Maguire headed the visitors in front from the resulting corner. Ralf Rangnick’s side then went 2-0 up in first half stoppage time, when Jadon Sancho picked out Fernandes with an exquisite chip into the box, and the Portuguese playmaker headed home.

Into the second half and Leeds pulled one back when Rodrigo Moreno’s mishit cross flew over De Gea and into the top corner. And just moments later it was 2-2, when half-time substitute Raphinha completed a remarkable comeback with Leeds scoring twice in a minute.
But the away side then retook the look in the 70th minute, when substitute Fred fired in at the near post to make it 3-2. It was another substitute who made it 4-2 in the dying minutes, when Anthony Elanga latched onto Bruno Fernandes’s ball before slipping past Meslier to silence the home crowd.
