La Liga: Revealed! Contract Details agreed between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid on Antoine Griezmann Loan- FC Barcelona shocked their fans by allowing French international Antoine Griezmann to leave the club for Atletico Madrid on a 2-year loan deal. The Catalan giants managed to strike a deal on Deadline day that saw the 30-year-old leave the Camp Nou and return to his former club.

After announcing Grizmann’s departure to the reigning La Liga champions, FC Barcelona released a statement sharing details about the 2018 World Cup winners’ move and revealed a mandatory purchase option in their statement.

Antoine Griezmann’s move to Atletico will see the French star return to his former club on a two-year loan deal. At the end of his loan spell, the purchase option comes into force that would make Atletico pay a fee of around 40 million euros to FC Barcelona and acquire Griezmann’s services on a permanent basis.

However, reports state that the obligation to buy is not 100 percent mandatory. According to various sources, the obligation to buy clause will be triggered depending upon the number of games Antoine Griezmann plays during the 2-year loan spell.

As a result, despite boasting of Griezmann’s services for the next two years, Atletico Madrid won’t be forced into triggering the mandatory buy option and purchase Griezmann if he doesn’t play in the required number of games.

It is also widely believed that Atletico can buy the Frenchman at any given moment during his 2-year loan spell. The transfer fee that the reigning La Liga champions will have to pay for the 30-year-old striker has already been discussed and defined in the contract signed between both the clubs, but currently remains unknown to the public.

There are more additional clauses that have been put in place. Citing the current deal, it is highly likely that Griezmann won’t return to the Camp Nou. The spirit of the agreement will do make everyone believe that Atletico Madrid is expected to retain the 30-year-old striker on a permanent basis after he completes the next two years as a player on loan. Following Griezmann’s departure, FC Barcelona also signed Luuk de Jong on loan from Sevilla to bolster their attacking options.
