Messi’s term with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current campaign, although indications indicate that a renewal is imminent. The Barcelona president also made it plain that the team won’t in the future rely on money to attract new players.

“Yesterday we had a meeting with the media,” Laporta told Barcelona’s official media. “We had conversations in a relaxed tone. It is obvious that I would like him to return one day. I would love to, but we can’t raise expectations. “

“He is a PSG player and has a contract with them. He has just won the World Cup. We are very happy for him.”

It was surely odd to see Lionel Messi not wearing the FC Barcelona uniform when he left the team in 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain. Club authorities had been eager for the Argentine to return ever since his departure, which was brought on by the Blaugrana’s financial difficulties. This may be the first actual chance for Messi to return home because his contract with the French club is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

In an interview with Barca TV, Barcelona president Joan Laporta brought up the subject and largely highlighted the club’s current state of affairs as well as the level of play in the men’s first squad, according to Sport.

What I do not want is to generate expectations that is very difficult [to fulfil]. The levers were made to save the club because it was in a very complicated situation.”

“Now LaLiga has established limits to the levers. It would be possible to do one of these operations, but it wouldn’t be to sign a player. For us, he is the best of all time. We have had him here and he has become a player here. ” added him.

“I am convinced that he, in his heart, is a Barcelona fan and will always be linked to Barcelona. We would very much like him to come back, but we’ll see.”
