La Liga: FC Barcelona captains Busquets and Roberto join Pique, agree upon salary reduction – FC Barcelona has been in constant touch with a few of the club veterans looking to reduce the wages of their star players. The Catalan side is currently said to be in hold talks with Jose Maria Orobitg, the agent of Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto, with the club captains likely to sign a new deal. The upcoming new contract would see the duo put pen on paper after agreeing upon a salary reduction in order to help the club out amid their financial conditions.

According to reports from Marca, all the parties involved in the deal are happy with the arrangement with the final sets of negotiations and paperwork expected to be completed soon.

The report states that Sergio Busquets will take a 25 percent pay cut. The 33-year-old Spaniard is also is expected to give up a major clause in his contract with further details not remaining unknown as of now. Sergi Roberto’s contract is expected to be very similar to His fellow Barca teammates. The 29-year-old is rumored to not only lower his salary by signing the new deal but also extend his stay with the Blaugrana outfit.

New deals to take some time

Jose Maria Orobitg is said to take more some time and look into the final details of Robertos’ deal before asking his client to sign the dotted line. However, both parties are currently happy with how the contract negotiations have progressed.

FC Barcelona will be eager to finalize the new deals before the transfer window shuts down. The Catalan outfit will be eager to register the remaining new signings with La Liga by the end of this month.
