Kyle Walker set to sign new Man City contract after dinner with Pep Guardiola

After spending around 2.5 hours together, Walker and Guardiola hugged and said their goodbyes.

Kyle Walker: After losing quite a number of players in this summer’s transfer window, it looks like Pep Guardiola won’t lose an important one. Kyle Walker has been an important player for Pep during his time in England. Losing him would be quite a big blow for the Premier League champs. But now, if reports are to be believed, then a dinner with Pep Guardiola seems to have changed his mind. Now, Walker is all set to sign a new contract to stay at the Etihad Stadium.

After making a transfer U-turn, Kyle Walker is reportedly staying at Manchester City this summer. This summer, Bayern Munich has been heavily linked to the England defender. Walker allegedly verbally agreed to sign a two-year contract with the Bundesliga winners last month, according to a report.

The 33-year-old, though, has reportedly opted to remain at City after “fresh talks” with manager Pep Guardiola, according to the Mail. On Friday night, Walker went to supper with his management. The two had dinner at Manchester’s upscale Japanese eatery, MUSU.

After spending around 2.5 hours together, Walker and Guardiola hugged and said their goodbyes.

Guardiola speaks about importance of Kyle Walker and Silva

Walker has been essential for Guardiola’s all-conquering Man City team, the manager had acknowledged earlier on Friday.

Of the full-back and team-mate Bernardo Silva, he said, “They are so important to us. We want them and will do everything. Replacing these two would be so difficult.”

Walker is reportedly on the verge of accepting a new offer from Man City that was put up within the previous 24 hours, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano. Earlier this summer, the former Tottenham star declined a new contract offer at the Etihad.

Walker served as City’s captain during Sunday’s Community Shield loss to Arsenal. He joined City from Spurs in 2017, and since then, he has played in 255 games. In that period, he has won the Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and five Premier League championships.

Man City offer Bernardo Silva new contract

According to rumours, Bernardo Silva is open to discussing extending his contract with Manchester City. Over the last year, the 28-year-old has been widely linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium. Barcelona and PSG have both expressed an interest in signing him this summer.

According to The Times, Silva is now seriously considering a new deal with Manchester City. Silva is a popular part of the Manchester City squad, which is one of the reasons he remains in Guardiola’s plans for the coming season.

Although Guardiola wants Silva to stay, he recently stated that if the midfielder decides to leave, he will not stand in his way. The Spanish manager said, ‘I want to clarify this as I know reports in Barcelona make up what I say. I don’t want any players who don’t want to be here. I want to work with guys who want to stay and work with us.’

He continued, ‘Some players feel they want a new experience. I will not be the guy who says ‘no’ — but they have to make an agreement with the club. Make a deal and it happens. But we have to get a proper offer. If we don’t get a proper offer, he’s our player and we want him.’
