Both semifinal matches took place on Saturday (July 1) at the same venue in Bengaluru. The first match saw Kuwait secure their place in the final of the SAFF Cup on their debut attempt, thanks to Abdullah Albloushi’s goal.

India and Kuwait are now set to face each other for the fourth time, having previously met three times, including their group stage encounter in the 2023 SAFF Championship. That match ended in a 1-1 draw, with Kuwait scoring a late equalizer.

The previous meetings occurred in 1978, where Kuwait defeated India 6-1 in the Asian Games, and in a 2010 friendly in Abu Dhabi, where India suffered a heavy 9-1 defeat. The only victory for the Indian team against Kuwait came in a friendly match in 2004, with a 3-2 win in Kuwait City.
