Karlsruher vs Liverpool Live: Club Friendlies LIVE – KSC vs LIV LIVE – Liverpool start their pre-season tour ahead of a rather less eventful season without Champions League games. They start with a tour to their coach’s homeland and with a match against Karlsruher. On the other hand, the 2. Bundesliga side have already played 5 of their pre-season friendlies where they have won 4 matches and lost one of them. Even though the Reds had somewhat of an unimpressive run last season, Karlsruher can count out a miracle against the mighty Premier League side.

Germany’s second-division side Karlsruher are one-time Bundesliga champions going back to the 1908-09 season. However, their fate has since turned for the worse as they have largely played between second and third-division football. Their last Bundesliga stint was in 2009. They were promoted back to the 2. Bundesliga in 2019. Since then, 40-year-old coach Christian Eichner has been able to keep the club in the competition. However, they have floated between top and bottom half finishes in these years.

They ended their last season in 7th place on the league table, 20 points behind the 3rd-placed Hamburger SV. With the aim to get a promotion to Germany’s topmost division, they have started their journey in the pre-season tour with 5 matches already played by now. They have won 4 times and lost once. One of the wins was a massive 18-0 against Ketsch and the others were against Balingen, AE Zakakiou, and Turkgucu Munchen. However, they also couldn’t hold their own against Viktoria Plzen and lost 3-0 to them.

This will be the first time for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool without Champions League games since his first campaign with them in the 2015-16 season. They will have to be satisfied with Thursday evening Europa League meetings as they ended last season in 5th position in the Premier League table. Injuries, horrible form on the road, and their decision to not bring on a new permanent midfielder last summer brought about their downfall. Even though they recovered near the end of the season, the damage was still done.

They had an 11-game unbeaten streak at the end of last season with 7 wins. However, a draw in their last week against Aston Villa saw their chance of playing in the Champions League in the upcoming season get shattered. They start the preparation for the upcoming season with a tour to Germany where they will play two friendlies against Karlsruher and Greuther Furth. They will fly to Singapore where they’ll face Leicester City and Bayern Munich before coming back to Germany to face SV Darmstadt 98.

Karlsruher Team News

  • Karlsruher have not been extremely active in this transfer window. However, they have made a significant new inclusion to their team by bringing back their youth product Lars Stindi from Borussia Monchengladbach. The forward has joined the second-division side on a free transfer from the Bundesliga club.
  • The 34-year-old featured in 31 matches throughout all competitions last season. He scored 9 times and provides 10 assists in those matches. The forward represented Karlsruher during their Bundesliga days between 2007 to 2009. Karlsruher have also managed to bring youngster David Herold on a loan move from Bayern Munich.
  • Even with the new additions to their team, their injury concerns cannot go unnoticed. Defender Daniel O’Shaughnessy is yet to recover from his hip issue. Additionally, it will still take a long time for the 18-year-old midfielder Efe Kaan Sihlaroglu to recover from his cruciate ligament rupture.

Liverpool Team News

  • New arrivals Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister could be handed their non-competitive debut for the Reds against the German side on Wednesday. However, the newcomers are not making headlines. It is the club captain Jordan Henderson who’s caught everyone’s attention as he has been included in the 32-man team travelling to Germany.
  • Captain Henderson has apparently agreed on a transfer to Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq. However, the Saudi side and the Reds are yet to decide on a transfer fee. In the meantime, the coach has taken the 33-year-old to Germany with him and he could be featuring against Karlsruher.
  • On the other hand, Fabinho who is negotiating a deal with another Saudi side Al Ittihad has been left at home before the first pre-season friendly. He could be joining the large number of players that left the club this transfer window including James Milner, Naby Keita, Leighton Clarkson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Roberto Firmino.
