Kevin de Bruyne gets cooked for calling journalist ‘stupid’, Belgium star faces daunting stats on social media

Belgium footballer Kevin de Bruyne faced the ire of a journalist on social media after calling him stupid for a question after the defeat to France

Belgium footballer Kevin de Bruyne was given a befitting response for calling a journalist stupid over his question after the side’s defeat to France. Belgium lost 1-0 to France in the round of 16 match at Düsseldorf in Germany. Taking to social media platform X, the journalist called out de Bruyne for calling him stupid, adding that the footballer only wanted to hear good things about him and not otherwise.

“It’s too early to answer,” De Bruyne told reporters when asked whether the defeat to France could spell the end of his international career. “Let me process this loss. It’s a been a very long season. I need to rest my body. I will make my decision after the summer.”

France edge past Belgium challenge

France secured their spot in the UEFA Euro 2024 quarter-finals with a dramatic 1-0 win over Belgium, courtesy of Jan Vertonghen’s late own goal in Duesseldorf. Despite dominating the match, France’s inefficient finishing seemed to push the game towards extra time.

However, they finally broke through with five minutes left, advancing to a last-eight tie in Hamburg on Friday. This victory keeps France on track to potentially become European champions for the third time.
