Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman revealed to ‘Mathrubhumi News’ the plans to potentially host one of the matches at the upcoming stadium in Payyanad, Malappuram. Discussions are ongoing to explore holding matches in other cities within the state. Abdurahiman emphasized that the government aims to fund the event through sponsorships, ensuring minimal financial impact on the state.
With a projected budget of Rs 100 crores, organizers plan to raise funds through television rights, ticket sales, and sponsorships. Discussions with the Argentine Football Association members are expected to finalize event details. Football experts from Argentina will assist the Kerala government in its ‘Goal Project’ this year.
The Kerala government aims to construct a FIFA-standard stadium in Payyanad using Rs 75 crores from the KIIFB funds. Once completed, the new stadium will replace the existing one for training purposes.
