Kerala Blasters FC on Friday came back from behind to clinch a 2-1 draw against Odisha FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium. Dimitrios Diamantakos and Adrian Luna scored the goals for the winning team while Diego Mauricio scored for the Juggernauts.
This was a massive win for the Yellow Army who climbed to the second spot of the Indian Super League table with 10 points from five matches. Odisha FC languish at the seventh spot with four points from four matches.
Odisha FC started the game on a bright note, creating problems for the Kerala Blasters defence. They scored in the 15th minute through Diego Mauricio. Maurício received the ball from Cy Goddard and unleashed a right-footed shot from the centre of the box. The ball rippled the goal without the goalkeeper having any chance to save the shot.
Kerala Blasters grew into the game and started threatening the Odisha FC box. Their efforts bore fruit when they equalised in the 67th minute through Dimitrios Diamantakos. KBFC improvised from a set piece as Daisuke Sakai set up the ball for Diamantakos. His left-footed shot from the centre of the box landed at the bottom left corner.
Adrian Luna scored the winner for the Yellow Army in the 84th minute. He finished a well-planned move, putting his shot away from the goalkeeper to the top left corner.
