What happened in the Wayanad landslide?

The 2024 Wayanad landslides were a series of devastating landslides that struck Punjirimattom, Wayanad, Kerala, in the early hours of 30th July 2024. Triggered by heavy rainfall, the landslides caused hillsides to collapse, obliterating the areas below. This disaster ranks among the deadliest in Kerala’s history, with over 336 reported deaths, 397 injuries, and 78 individuals still missing.

Captain Adrian Luna is absent

Kerala Blasters captain Adrian Luna is not playing in the season opener at the JLN Stadium. The reason for his absence is personal, as the Uruguayan footballer has been granted a week off to travel back home for the birth of his child.
